About Us

Beauty, elegance, type, attitude, kindness, willingness and “in your face” gentleness are just some of the attributes that drew Carol Dorin, owner, breeder and competitor, to the American Cocker Spaniel. Mainly, that of the “blondes have more fun” variety. Thus, the kennel name Pied D’or meaning golden feet, or feet of gold, in the French language.

Carol has been showing and breeding Arabian horses since 1979. She is an accomplished National Champion competitor in both Canada and the U.S. in the saddleseat English Pleasure division. Her appreciation of beauty, type, attitude and trainability of the Arabian horse are instrumental to the breeding, overall husbandry and presentation of the American Cocker Spaniel ... click to read more

TESTIMONIALS

It had been almost a year and a half since our beloved boxer, Rowdy, passed away. We had been thinking of getting another family companion, looking occasionally on line for breeders. We have always liked the spaniel breed, so we were looking in that direction. My wife did a lot of research for months, until we began to get serious and narrow the field down to a couple of breeders.

We were sure we wanted a Cocker Spaniel, and it was extremely important to us to make sure we had a strong and healthy bloodline. We contacted Carol at Pied D’or American Cocker Spaniels, and after some conversation determined she was the one we wanted to go with.

Ultimately, we ended up with two beautiful males from Ringo and Pia’s litter born in July, 2020. Although a handful, as normal puppy stage is, we could not be happier. Our boys are healthy, active, and athletic, bringing us much love and companionship. They are learning quickly and blending in perfectly with our family.

During the process of waiting until they were of age to leave their litter, we got to know quite a bit about Carol through our conversations. She is not “just a breeder,” she genuinely loves her family of Cockers, and is deeply concerned about their health and welfare. She truly cares about how her pups are adopted and was very helpful with guidance regarding care, feeding, vaccines, etc.

We think very highly of Carol, and would not hesitate to recommend Pied D’or American Cocker Spaniels to anyone wanting to adopt a beautiful, pure bread cocker spaniel.

It’s difficult to find words that express our gratitude to Carol and her beautiful cocker spaniel puppies. We met Carol about 10 years ago at the Scottsdale dog show after losing our beloved cocker Desi. Needless to say, it was love at first sight – for both Carol and her amazing cockers! We immediately knew that we had found the perfect breeder for our future puppy. Little did we know that we would end up with 3 incredibly beautiful buff-colored cocker spaniels from the same litter! In fact, we have 2 brothers (Chase & Clark) and our daughter has their sister (Maria) and has recently added another related cocker puppy (Remy) to our cocker family.

We have tremendous admiration and respect for Carol. She is extremely knowledgeable of the breed and is active in handling and showing her own dogs. All of her dogs are beautiful representatives of the breed standard with loving temperaments. But first and foremost, they are all members of her family. Carol is a wealth of information and is always eager to answer questions. In fact, she even took the time to train me in not only grooming the dogs but also in showing the dogs! But what continues to impress us the most is the love that she has for all of her dogs and puppies. Nothing is more important to her than ensuring that they are all placed with the best family possible in a forever loving home and that they are cared for and loved for the rest of their lives.

We feel so blessed to have Carol and her cockers as part of our family and for our family to be part of the Pied D’Or Cocker family!

Who knew that driving 24 hours from Minnesota to Michigan and back with our beautiful Serena would make us this happy. When my husband suggested getting a dog to help in my cancer recovery, I was skeptical. I thought I’d be busy recovering…however, Serena was a huge part of not only my recovery but that of my mom also. She gave my mom much comfort during her battle with cancer. Serena makes my journey easier. It was evident that you spent allot of time with her. As we had worked with breeders before, we were quite impressed that after asking us all those questions, you matched us with the perfect dog with the perfect personality for our family. She is smart, loving, playful and healthy…which is a testament to the great care she received from you while she was in your care. Also, thanks for always helping me with my questions…even to this day.

I personally am grateful that God put such a kind-hearted, loving person in my path. You take such care to raise the cockers in a great environment so they are loving and fit right in with little adjustment. I will always be a big fan!
